The role of the Estimator:
- Responsible for calculating accurately the costings of projects to enable the sales team to win and deliver projects on time and in budget.
- Responsible for budgeting, building and checking schedules of rates and approximating build costs.
- Responsible for attending pre-budget meetings and site visits to help with setting costs.
- Responsible for co-ordinating with the sales team on any new and upcoming projects to that they are scheduled way in advance to optimize best costing practices.
- Reporting any concerns that may negatively impact projected costs and time estimates.
- Do appropriate checks to make sure that take off is done correctly
- Oversee handover from bid to execution with other teams and stakeholders in business.
- Provide and manage all relevant documentation including quotes, presentations, information and data, all within GDPR and corporate governance.
The right person for the Estimator:
- Degree or sufficient experience in construction management, civil engineering, estimating or similar.
- Full UK Driving License, preferably clean.
- Ability to meet project objectives within designated constraints.
- Ability to prepare bid presentations on Power Point
- A flair for analysis, troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Good accurate record keeper, excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
- Commercial awareness and eye for detail; ability to estimate without scope for financial error.
- Knowledge of similar products, glass, steel, aluminum, and powder coatings.
- Five plus years progressive responsibility with quantifiable results in similar roles.
- Experience in commercial building projects and knowledge of construction methods and technologies.
