Yard Operative

Active Staff are proud to be working with a local client in Stockbridge, who are looking for Yard Operatives to join their team on an ongoing basis.

Working Hours

• Monday – Friday, plus every 3rd weekend
• Days off in lieu will be provided during the following week
• Rotating shifts:
• Early: 06:30 – 15:30
• Late: 08:00 – approximately 17:00

Pay

• £15.00 per hour
• £18.75 per hour overtime
• Additional £25 weekend payment

Main Duties

As a Yard Operative, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out pre-vehicle start checks each morning, including oil, water, tyre pressure, cleaning and cutting twine
• Receiving raw materials, including straw bales, poultry litter and gypsum
• Preparing raw materials by mixing and watering prior to the composting process
• Cleaning equipment and machinery at the end of each process
• Operating FE loaders, telehandlers and tractors throughout the different stages of the Phase 1 process
• Opening bunker doors and removing temperature probes
• Setting up hoppers and conveyor machinery to refill bunkers
• Emptying bunkers and cleaning them using a forklift with scraper attachment and high-pressure hose
• Operating various computer systems as required
• Ensuring the work area and machinery are kept clean and tidy
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety at all times
