Instrumentation and Electrical Technician
Alton, Hampshire
Monday to Friday
7:30am – 4:30pm
Callouts: Paid at 5 hours base rate + minimum 5 hours at x1.5 (Mon–Fri) or x2.0 (weekends & Bank Holidays)

The role of the Instrumentation & Electrical Technician:
- Carry out and record scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Service a wide range of process control instrumentation (transmitters, controllers, analysers etc.).
- Respond to breakdowns and provide expert support during callouts.
- Maintain site services and ensure compliance with health and safety practices.
- Assist in plant installations and commissioning activities.
- Supervise contractors and collaborate with vendor service engineers.
- Ensure proper equipment isolation procedures for safe maintenance.
- Maintain clean, hazard-free working environments through general housekeeping.
The person for the Instrumentation & Electrical Technician:
- Excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
- Strong communicator, capable of working with all levels of staff and external contractors.
- Diligent, reliable, and safety conscious.
- Strong problem-solving ability and able to stay calm under pressure.
- Comfortable with IT systems and digital reporting tools.
- Ability to work unsupervised and take ownership of tasks.
Qualifications & Experience of the Instrumentation & Electrical Technician:
- 4–5 years’ experience in maintenance of instrumentation and/or electrical systems.
- NVQ Level 3 or completed apprenticeship in Instrumentation (with electrical knowledge).
- Knowledge or background in the oil and gas industry is highly desirable.
