Job Description:
We're looking for a skilled CNC Miller to join our client ambitious project with exciting development plan. You'll take ownership of programming, setting, and running CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components for medical and aerospace industry - working with materials like stainless steel, aluminium and titanium.
This is a hands-on role where you'll have real influence over machining strategies, tooling choices, and process improvements. If you take pride in producing quality work and enjoy problem-solving on the shop floor, we'd like to hear from you.
Salary:
£38,000 - £42,000 per annum
Overtimes available at premium rate
Working hours for this position will be:
Monday to Thursday 7:00AM - 3:15PM
Fridays 7:00AM - 2:30PM
Afternoon and Night hours also available.
What you'll do
- Program and optimise — Write and refine CNC programs using CAM software (SolidCAM, Fusion, CloudNC, or similar) and/or G-code. Troubleshoot 5-axis machining challenges and fine-tune toolpaths for accuracy and efficiency.
- Set up and run machines — Handle tooling, fixtures, work holding, probes, and offsets. Perform first-off inspections and maintain quality throughout production runs.
- Own quality — Inspect parts using micrometres, verniers, height gauges, and bore gauges. Ensure everything meets drawing specs, GD&T requirements, and customer standards.
- Improve processes — Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, extend tool life, and enhance output. Support lights-out machining through reliable setups and monitoring.
- Maintain and troubleshoot — Diagnose issues like chatter, dimensional variance, or tool failures. Carry out preventative maintenance and flag any mechanical or control problems.
What you'll bring
- 3+ years of CNC milling experience
- Proficiency in CAM programming and/or G-code editing
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with precision measurement tools and quality control practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and other relevant industry standards.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles is a plus but not essential.
Working environment
You'll be based in a modern, state of art machine shop. The role involves standing for extended periods and handling tools and materials within safe weight limits.
