Exciting opportunity to work for our client from marine industry who is a world number 1 company in their field and currently looking for an experienced Laminator to join a skilled production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual with a strong understanding of laminating processes and experience working within a quality-driven manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team producing a range of products, carrying out laminating work in accordance with specified lay-up requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and workmanship.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00AM to 3:00PM
Salary: Depending on experience and skills
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare mould tools and moulds ready for laminating and maintain them in a production-ready condition.
- Apply gel coat by both hand and spray application methods.
- Carry out hand laminating in accordance with lay-up specifications.
- Apply release systems and release simple moulds.
- Use a range of hand tools safely and effectively.
- Identify and address laminating defects and maintain consistently high quality standards.
- Work with core materials and generic bonding pastes.
- Have an understanding of closed moulding techniques.
- Carry out trimming, grinding and other associated GRP processes where required.
- Accurately complete component tracking and production documentation, including temperature, humidity and material batch information.
- Monitor and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they remain safe and fit for purpose.
- Liaise with Technical and Quality teams to support continuous improvement of processes, documentation and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and ensure PPE is used and stored correctly.
- Work closely with colleagues and other departments to ensure production targets and customer quality requirements are achieved.
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience in laminating or a similar composite manufacturing environment.
- Thorough understanding of GRP laminating and associated processes.
- Experience with hand laminating and gel coat application.
- Knowledge of mould preparation and release systems.
- Understanding of closed moulding techniques and core materials.
- Experience with trimming and grinding would be advantageous.
- Previous experience within Marine, Aerospace, Automotive or another quality-driven manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Good understanding of quality processes and production documentation.
- Ability to identify defects and resolve basic production issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
