Job Overview
An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Quality Improvement Engineer to join a growing precision manufacturing business.
This is a hands-on, shop floor-focused role responsible for driving quality improvements, improving process capability, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve operational performance, reduce defects, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:15
Friday: 07:00 – 14:30
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong shop floor presence to ensure quality is controlled at source
- Lead root cause investigations using methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, and 5 Whys
- Drive continuous improvement activities to reduce scrap, defects, and rework
- Analyse manufacturing data to identify trends and process improvement opportunities
- Apply statistical techniques including SPC, Cp/Cpk, and MSA
- Support process validation activities including IQ, OQ, and PQ
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and customer quality standards
- Support internal, customer, and external audits
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality departments
- Develop and improve SOPs, procedures, and quality documentation
- Support and strengthen the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Deliver quality awareness and training across operational teams
- Support customer issue resolution and delivery performance improvements
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience within Quality or Manufacturing Engineering
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience using statistical tools such as SPC and Minitab
- Good understanding of ISO 13485 standards
- Experience within medical device manufacturing highly desirable
- Strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally within a manufacturing environment
Desirable Experience
- CNC machining or precision engineering environment
- CMM and measurement systems experience
- Process validation and equipment qualification
- Experience within regulated industries such as aerospace or medical devices
