About the Business
An established and growing precision engineering company is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Milling Programmer to join its manufacturing team. Serving highly regulated sectors including defence, medical and oil & gas, the company operates to AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards and invests heavily in advanced machining technology and integrated automation systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced 3-axis CNC Miller looking to further develop their skills in 4- and 5-axis programming within a progressive and forward-thinking engineering environment.
The Role
You will play a key role in the manufacture of high-quality precision components, taking responsibility for programming, setting and operating single, twin-pallet and multi-pallet 4- and 5-axis CNC machines.
Working throughout the production lifecycle, from receipt of material through to final product realisation, you will ensure efficiency, accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM (Opportunity to move onto an afternoon shift following successful completion of the training period)
Hourly rate
Between £18 and £25 per hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
Programming
- Program CNC machines using Fanuc controls and Edgecam software (training available).
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to produce accurate machining programs.
- Optimise programs to improve cycle times and machining efficiency.
Machine Setup & Operation
- Prepare and set up CNC machines, including loading materials, tooling and programs.
- Manufacture precision components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Monitor machine performance to ensure dimensional accuracy and efficient production.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular quality inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Complete Quality Management System (QMS) documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Identify and rectify deviations by making necessary program or setup adjustments.
Tooling & Maintenance
- Select appropriate tooling for various materials and machining operations.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication and minor adjustments.
- Report machine malfunctions and maintenance requirements promptly.
Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise machining processes and improve productivity.
- Identify and implement improvements to tooling, programming and machining techniques.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements and company procedures.
- Follow policies relating to material handling, waste disposal and operational processes.
Experience and Skills Required
- Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Strong experience machining high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, alloy steels and aluminium.
- Proficiency with Fanuc controls and CNC programming.
- Experience using CAM software
- Strong understanding of machining techniques, tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment and quality assurance methods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Desirable
- Experience with 4- and 5-axis programming.
- Proficiency in programming on Edgecam
- Experience working with a variety of CNC machining centres and controls.
