Description
Great opportunity GRP Composite Finisher to join a skilled manufacturing team within family owned business who is a world leader in their field.
Working as part of the finishing department, you will be responsible for the finishing, repair and preparation of gel coat surfaces and GRP composite mouldings, ensuring components meet the highest standards of quality and finish.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in GRP finishing, gel coat repairs, trimming, filling, fairing and polishing, ideally gained within a marine, automotive, aerospace or other quality-driven manufacturing environment.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00AM - 3:00PM (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: Depending on experience and skills
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect finished GRP components and identify defects requiring rework.
- Carry out gel coat repairs to remove imperfections, blemishes and joint lines from split mould tools.
- Fill and fair surfaces to achieve a smooth, consistent finish.
- Polish gel coat surfaces to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Trim GRP components using air saws, routers and diamond cutting discs where required.
- Sand and finish cut edges using appropriate abrasive papers and equipment.
- Ensure all finished components meet the required quality and presentation standards.
- Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Assist with other areas of the manufacturing process as directed by the Team Leader.
- Support the training and development of new production operatives when required.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised workstation and production area.
- Take responsibility for the quality of your own work.
- Correctly use and maintain required PPE.
- Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and report any issues or shortfalls promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in GRP finishing, composite finishing or paint finishing/detailing.
- Practical experience with gel coat repairs and surface finishing.
- Experience with trimming, sanding, filling, fairing and polishing.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work.
- Ability to identify imperfections and achieve a consistently high-quality finish.
- Comfortable working with hand tools and finishing equipment.
- Ability to work effectively to production deadlines.
- Previous experience within the Marine industry or another high-quality manufacturing environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
